Illustrated with seven full-page maps and one folding map to Volume II. Collated, complete. Henry George Keene (1781-1864) was a soldier and civil servant of the East India Company. He was a Persian scholar. In this two-volume work, he provides a sweeping history of India, from the rise of Buddhism, to India under the Viceroy George Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston. 3 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with very light shelf wear to the extremities and boards. Spine to Volume I is slightly faded. Binding is slightly strained towards the rear of Volume I; otherwise both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean apart from spotting to the first and last couple of pages. Very Good .
